Ladakh has always fascinated travellers with its magnificent beauty. Rumtse Tso Moriri Lake Trek is one of a kind and is popular among trekkers. With a gorgeous view of twin lakes of Tsokar and Tsomoriri guarde, the trek offers unimaginable beauty. We can witness wildlife like Kiangs, Lynx, Tibetan Gazelle, Blue Sheep, Mountain Goats, Marmots and Snow Leopards.
Day 1: Arrive at Leh
You will arrive at Leh and meet the trekking group in a hotel. Today, you will spend your day to get acclimatized and take rest. You can stroll around the city and visit Leh Palace in the evening.
Day 2: Explore Leh
After an early breakfast and tea, you can visit the Thiksey Monastery, situated on a hill in Thiksey village. You will head towards Shey, the ancient capital of Ladakh. You will have lunch there, rest for a while and visit the Shey Palace. You can visit the Shanti Stupa in the evening and return to the hotel for dinner and night stay.
Day 3: Leh to Rumtse (3 hours) and Trek to Kayamar (4050m)
Once you have your breakfast, you will drive to Rumtse, the starting point of the trek. Your drive will be stunning with ancient monasteries and a beautiful landscape. It will be an easy walk through pleasant pastures. You can also spot local shepherds with their herds. Your overnight camp will be at Kayamar.
Day 4: Kayamar to TIsalinga (5046m)
It will be a challenging day hence proper rest is a must. You will start to ascend gradually towards the first pass of Kumur La (4800 m) that gives an amazing view of the Zanskar range. You can have a panoramic view of Changthang plateau. After the pass, you will descend to the base of the next pass. On the way, you will see herds of sheep, goats and yaks. You will take a short break. Then, you will head to Mandalchan La (4850 m). From there on, you can easily descend to the campsite in Tisaling.
Day 5: TIsaling to Phongponapu, Tso Kar (4579m)
Today, you will reach the third pass, the Shibuk La (4900 m). You will have an incredible view of the surrounding peaks from the top of the pass. Your next point will be Tsokar Lake. You will then head down towards the valley.
Day 6: Phongponapu to Nuruchan (4300 m)
You will follow a dusty jeep road and move towards Tso Kar Lake. Along the lakeshore, you can spot some rare species of endangered migratory birds. You will continue to follow the trail to the right of the lake. Beautiful grassy pastures of Nuruchan will be seen near the streams.
Day 7: Nuruchan La (4750m) To Rachungkaru (4952m)
You will hike up to the Nuruchan La (4750m) before you descend to cross another stream and a low pass. You will camp at Rachungkaru (4952m). From your campsite, you can closely see grazing yaks, sheep and pashmina goats.
Day 8: Kyamaru La (5400m) and Gyabarma La (5300m) To Gyabarma (5171m)
It will be a long day as you would cross two passes above 5000 metres. In two hours, you will reach the first pass, the Kyamaru La (5400m). From there, you will get a magnificent view of several snow-capped mountains. Descending shortly, you will climb again to cross the Gyabarma La (5300m). You will further descend, cross a stream and reach your campsite at Gyabarma (5171m).
Day 9: Yalung Naula Pass (5400m) | Korzok Dok (4632m)
Once you reach the top of the Yalung Naula Pass (5400m), you çan view the Tso Moriri Lake. Tso Moriri is twenty kilometres long and surrounded by beautiful snow peaks. It is one of the most gorgeous lakes you can dream of. You will then descend to Karzok Dok (4632m).
Day 10: Drive across Changthang Plains and the river Indus to Leh
You will drive for about six hours to reach Leh that is 220 km away. The road journey will be a mix of a rough and smooth experience. You can view scenic beauty during the road journey while sharing the trek experience with the group. You will check-in at the hotel in Leh and stay overnight.
Day 11 Departure Day
After breakfast, you will start early from Leh to reach the airport. The beautiful and adventurous trek ends with memories to share.
